6 gift ideas for your parents wedding anniversary…

Its always difficult to buy gifts for your parents or your in-laws, particularly if they are fairly well off.

Here are 6 ideas to get your brain ticking over.

1. A himilayan salt lamp, even the most stubborn scientific brain can feel the energy shift.

2. Something to help an ailment they have, maybe an excersize machine or a latest gadget or similar.

3. Gemstones and crystals can be great, then you can either choose one in the correct stone for the month, the anniversary or each of their birthstones.

4. Books on a favourite topic.

5. Its amazing what handmade items you can find on etsy.

6. Folded book with their wedding date. If you have the money you could get 2 books, each with their name.

What’s in a name?

If you have read some of my older posts around the traps you would know about my tumultuous former relationship and my fabulous new one.

Tin Tiara came to be when Andrew and I decided to turn my hobby into a business, the problem was choosing a name…it’s a tough thing, you know?

Early in the dating game for us Andrew sent me the above quote…it was so very true for us, to most people he is just a retard in tin foil but he is MY knight in shining Armour.

So the thought process followed on that if my retard in tin foil was going to sweep me off my feet, I must need my own Tin Tiara.

Have you got a story behind your name?  Or a goofy spouse that’s just perfect for you…I would love to hear about them…

Happy days and joyful nights, Joy

Who am I? What am I doing here?

Well, golly gee, what a difficult question.  Who am I? I am a looney, I am a Mum of 5 with an at home business and a partner, who single handly puts up with all my crazy and supports me along the way.  Who am I really? I don’t know and I hope I never know.  I have a strong desire to learn and don’t ever want to stop.  If I am not trialling a new jewellery design, I am thinking of a new book folding design, then there are the days I am learning about SEO, followed by how to get the kids to eat something new.   I am as insecure as the next person, and I certainly do not fit the jewellery designer, trendy stereotype.

A funny thing actually happened this week, I got added to a list of best fashionistas a few days ago (well my business did) and although flattered, it gave me a giggle, I am currently sitting here typing my draft of this one handed with teething, dribbly baby swinging off my arm, sporting a effortless up do (read: threw my hair in a pony tail this morning), ready to go for a workout (read: wearing my comfy trackies and a tee).  Just out of interest what do you do with your time and away from work do you meet your stereotype?

When I am not busy working, blogging, being a parent, I like to read tutorials, learn how to do things cleaner, cook at home,  I use gemstones and crystals to support my everyday life and I am currently delving into the realm of aroma therapy.  My goal is to take my family back to a simpler, more natural way of living.  So natural recipes and cleaners are big on my list and I will share these over time.  I can only type so fast.  I have 3 separate blogs as well as my WordPress site, I tend to blog on WordPress then move the post over to the relevant page so that my gorgeous readers that want to know about natural therapy, don’t have to hear about my latest sale unless they wish to.

I am currently doing the Blogging 101 and 201 challenges just to learn a little more about how people are doing things because honestly, talking about myself in text in not something I am familiar with or very confident doing.  I hope to improve over time.  Why not stick with me on this journey of self discovery? I would love the company.

I must add that is one thing they don’t tell you about the glorified world of running a business around your family.  It can get quiet talking to the same family day in, day out.

I am hoping by the end of this year I will have learnt how to live cleaner and happier and hopefully discovered who I am a little more and with a whole lot of luck, love and work, I hope to have helped make your world a little easier, nicer, happier, touched in some way. Do you have a personal goal for the year?  Why not share it in the comments to keep yourself accountable.

Gemstone Meanings: Garnet

This is the first in a new series detailing the interesting information that can be found about this beautiful gemstone.

The garnet species is found in many colours including pink, orange, yellow, green, purple, brown and black.  The most common being a deep red colour.   The rarest is the blue, which was discovered in the late 1990′s in Madagascar.  This is a very interesting specimen of garnet as it changes colour from a blue-green in sunlight to a purple-red in incandescent light.

In the navy! In the navy!

Recently I was asked to fold a book for a retiring Navy officer.

My customer sent me a brand new, hard cover book featuring uniforms over the span of navy years.

To say I was daunted was an understatement.

It was stunning, I fold secondhand books out of op shops, how was I going to tackle this precious bundle.
To make matters worse it needed to be done and sent back to make it in time for the presentation, so no procrastination allowed.
I was scared.

Head to my page to organise something similar for your special someone.

One little book had me shaking in my boots.  Why was I scared? No idea, I have been folding books for years now, custom orders are second nature.  Was it that the book was brand new?  Was it that I knew it was, a gift for.a member of our military.  Whom although I don’t agree with war I still have a huge respect for those that are willing to sacrifice their lives for us.

I still can’t answer that but I decided to fold a practice run first, which of course was fine.

So, I sit down with the bundle of scariness in front of me, page after page of folding and the design was coming out perfectly.

It was finished and looked amazing  might add.

Moral of the story.  Never underestimate yourself.  You can do it!

I have since heard from my customer that the book was stunning and the recipient loved it.

What have you had to do that had you terrified for no good reason?
